As I was browsing the internet I was stunned at how poor the online calculators are done. Most noticeable is the fact that you have to press the “calculate” button to acquire results. And The Excel exists already more than 10 years.
So I get to my friend and ask if he can come up with something more interactive. The magic word was Ajax. That is how our site was borne.
The next major idea was about the content. There are tons of online converters. What the people really need is the quick answer to some questions involving mathematical calculations. Some times these calculations are first grade school in nature. Some times it involves University science.
We designed it based on my extensive practice with Excel. I had to do a LOT of tables to answer the questions that arise from my job as a Lead Game Designer. Put your numbers in one field and read the answers immediately in another. That way you can easily play with “what-if” scenario. That’s the major advancement.
Algorithms that we intend to include are specific, as the common algorithms people can implement themselves using the above mentioned Excel.
Practicality is the driving engine. Another friend was begging to implement the oil density and API gravity calculations as he was stuffed with paging paper tables. So we decide to capitalize on this and continued with Battery Recharge Time calculator, Aviation Fuels and Weights conversion and the calculator about how to compress your favorite movies on the blank in the best way.
Despite this “serious mathematics” we decided to include some funny stuff. Like answers to the kid’s question.
We continue to grow, adding more and more calculations and are open to any ideas. So if you have any particular need just write us on the demand@calcme.com and watch the miracle of science.
